1930's Germaine Monteil Channel Quilted Evening
Germaine Monteil came to the united States from
France in the early 1930's and began designing
clothes. She added the cosmetics company that
she is best known for a few years later and
stopped designing clothing in the late 1940's.
This long evening jacket is a great example of
her timeless styles. The jacket is made from
channel quilted silk running vertically on the
front, then squaring off near the hem and
running horizontally on the back and sleeves.
There is a single button closure at the neck and
the jacket is in excellent condition.
