Tina Leser Original
Tina Leser was born in Philadelphia in
1910 and traveled the world with her
parents. She opened her first boutique
in Honolulu as a newlywed in 1935.
Her clothing designs and fabric choices
were definitely influenced by her exotic
life. In the 1950's she designed
clothing using Indian Sari fabric for
the garments. This pale green and gold
silk dress is from that collection. This
dress is made form a sheer silk organza
shot through with gold as well as gold
motifs in a classic Indian design. The
dress is sleeveless with a fitted bodice
and a long slim skirt. The self belt
snaps and hooks under the fixed bow and
it is attached to an overskirt in the
back. This sheer panel is edged with the
border pattern of the sari. {there are a
few small pale spots on the lining only
of this panel at the bottom corner} The
dress has a center back zipper and it is
fully lined in silk. It is in excellent
condition.
