Curiel Linen Dress and Jacket
Gigliola Curiel was the
first Italian fashion designer to have
an exclusive contract with Bergdorf
Goodman, New York. This contract began
in 1955 and women were able to custom
order clothes from her line.
This chic blue linen dress and jacket
was ordered by an American Beauty Queen
in 1964. The clever construction of the
bodice replaces the darts with
functional and decorative curved seams
above an Empire waist. Three knot
buttons decorate the front of the dress
above a narrow skirt. The jacket
has a band collar, bracelet length
sleeves and four larger knot buttons.
Both pieces are fully lined in silk and
both have the Curiel and Bergdorf
labels. They are in excellent condition.
