Thea Porter Painted Velvet Suit
Thea Porter abandons her
ethnic influences for a sleek Modernist look
in the design of this panne velvet jacket
and skirt from the 1970's.
The collarless jacket closes
with a series of concealed hooks and eyes at
the center front. The body of the jacket is
a warm camel color, with painted designs in
black, brown, rust, tan, grey and lavender
on cream. The matching long wrap skirt is
fitted over the hips, with a hook and eye
closure at the waistband and three fabric
covered buttons just to the left of center.
The skirt has a large box pleat at the
center front balanced by three more pleats
at the sides and back. The painted design
matches the jacket. Both pieces are fully
lined and they are in excellent condition.
