Princess Irene Galitzine Evening Dress

Irene Galitzine, a Russian born Princess, became a world class designer in her adopted home of Italy. She was so stylish that she was elected to The International Best Dressed List in 1965, and she is credited with creating palazzo pants in the 1960's.

This ultra chic velvet and fur trimmed gown is a fabulous example of her elegant designs. The dress has a fur trimmed neckline, velvet covered buttons to the left of center that sit above more fur that wraps around the hemline. There are two pockets concealed in the seams, and the gown has a full lining of cocoa colored silk taffeta with an interior hook and eye closure as well. It is in excellent condition, just back from the fur cleaner.
