John Cavanagh Beaded Jacket

This little jewel of a jacket was designed by John Cavanagh in the 1950's. He began his career with Molyneux in Paris, then worked for Balmain after the second World War. Cavanagh opened his own couture house in London in 1952, bringing the elegance of French Couture to London.

This beautifully chic jacket is probably woven silk or a silk and wool blend. The collarless jacket has wide elbow length sleeves trimmed at the cuffs in a wide band of jewels matching the jacket hem. The body of the jacket is covered with jeweled motifs as well as scattered prong set rhinestones and gold beads. The jacket is lined in cream silk and finished by hand. It is in excellent condition.
